Has there been even one declination? I don't think so. The responses pour in from all corners of the city, overwhelmingly positive. Of course they will attend. They all sense it. There is an anticipation in the air, and I am to blame for putting it there.
Connor has been ... presumptuous. His knowing smiles, the confidence and pleasure he all but radiates, of late. It should please me to see him so eager for this announcement. Why should it gall me so?

I only hope that this announcement does not complicate matters for Joseph. The Queen takes this imagined rivalry quite seriously. Like a child, what I have, she will covet -- even if it is not what she truly wants.
